What Will Happen To Goodison Park

Everton officially moved from Goodison Park - their home since 1892 - this season with the iconic stadium entering a new chapter.

Goodison Park hosted its final Premier League game against Southampton on May 18 before officially moving to their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

It was a strong start to life at their new home under David Moyes with two wins and two draws in their first four matches at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but they suffered their first league defeat of the new campaign on home soil to Tottenham.

What's Happening To Goodison Park?

While the men have moved on to the new stadium, Goodison Park still stands, despite previous plans to demolish it.

The Goodison Legacy Project, launched in 2020, originally planned to tear down the stadium and build affordable housing, community services, green spaces, and offices on its land.

However, Everton announced in May 2025 that the demolition would no longer go ahead in a major U-turn from their new owners, The Friedkin Group.

It was confirmed that the stadium would become the new permanent home of Everton Women from the 2025/26 season.

The statement read: "The decision follows an in-depth review of the Goodison Legacy project by The Friedkin Group (TFG) since their takeover in December. The Goodison Legacy project was launched in 2020 to define the future of Goodison.

"After an in-depth review, The Friedkin Group decided that football must be kept at the heart of Everton’s community."

The club added: "The move addresses Everton Women’s rapid growth and need for a larger, more suitable venue than Walton Hall Park.

"The move to Goodison will include enhancements that will be made over time and will ensure adequate facilities are in place before the start of the season. The relocation will also generate economic opportunities for local businesses through matchday footfall.

"Goodison will remain a central part of Liverpool’s sporting and cultural identity. In addition to hosting Everton Women, it will stage selected Academy matches and expand Everton in the Community’s L4 campus."

Everton Women ply their trade in the Women's Super League and now boast the largest stadium in the country for women's football.

They previously played at Walton Hall Park, which had a capacity of just 2,200 and only 500 seats.
